Old Man Worlds!

One of the last competitions of the year for some of us; Worlds Masters or "Old Man Worlds" as it has been dubbed, is set to take place November 1st and 2nd at the Long Beach Pyramid. Rob "The Polar Bear" Poling and Kevin Harris are representing Jiu Jitsu Foundation and competing in this major event...

These 2 boys from Midway, along with Master Cadu, have been training and competing together since day one. Let's show some support for our JJF competitors in this end of year competition.

A Day to Remember

September 6, 2014-- The American Nationals Jiu Jitsu Tournament at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson CA.

Jiu Jitsu Foundation went to Nationals with 13 competitors and brought home 8 medals.

For the last few weeks the team has been training hard, drilling extra hours, cutting weight (for some) and putting in work to be ready for Nationals. For some, this was their first major tournament while for others, like myself, it was another chance to be with friends and go through the gamut of emotions that competitions tend to bring out. The nerves hit you a few days out and continue until you hit the mat in your first match. Adrenaline flows, exhaustion kicks in, muscles cramp and then it's all about heart. Well, the JJF team proved that we have heart.

Congratulations to the following for their medals:
Rob "the Polar Bear" Poling - Gold
Kevin Harris - Silver
Greg Cortes - Silver
Patrick Crescini - Bronze
Yizel Galvan - Bronze
Fernando "Esqueleto" Rangel - Silver
Damon Flemming - Bronze

Everyone pushed hard and learned a lot; not just about Jiu Jitsu but also about themselves. It takes a lot of courage to compete on this type of stage and everyone did well.

Thank you to all of the friends and family that made the trip to cheer us on. We could not do this without your help and support.

A great team needs a great coach! Thank you to Master Cadu for everything you do for us. You were there from the very first match to the very last. A dedicated teacher in every way.
